A resident of Yekaterinburg has successfully sued a shoe seller and been awarded 33.7 thousand rubles in compensation for purchasing substandard sneakers. According to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, the sneakers themselves were priced at 8.5 thousand rubles.
The seller had assured the customer that the sneakers were of good quality. However, after a short period of use, cracks appeared on the shoes. The customer demanded a refund for the poor quality footwear, but the seller refused. Even an independent expert's conclusion that the sneakers did not meet the requirements of labeling legislation did not influence the seller's decision.
The customer then sought assistance from a consumer advisory center, where experts helped him draft a lawsuit. The court ruled in favor of the customer, ordering the seller to pay almost 34 thousand rubles. This amount includes the cost of the poor quality product, a penalty for failing to meet the legal requirements of the customer, damages, compensation for emotional distress, and a fine for not voluntarily satisfying the customer's demands.
Earlier, the Ural Meridian news agency reported that Rospotrebnadzor had successfully used legal action to force a construction company to refund money for unfinished work.
