The Ministry of Justice of Russia has prepared a draft order to change the clothing of convicts and detainees in pretrial detention centers, aiming to improve the clothing provisions for prisoners and individuals held in investigative isolators.

The Ministry of Justice of Russia has prepared a draft order to change the clothing of convicts and detainees in pretrial detention centers, according to a statement released on November 20. The order is part of the implementation of the Concept for the Development of the Criminal-Executive System of the Russian Federation until 2030.

The draft order proposes the approval of a new, more comfortable uniform that takes into account the seasonal climate conditions in different regions of Russia. Additionally, changes in the appearance and details of the clothing are expected. The color of the uniform for male convicts will be changed from black to graphite, and for female convicts from green to burgundy. The new clothing will be issued as it is produced.

New items of clothing will also be introduced, including winter knit hats, scarves, and T-shirts. Female convicts will be allowed to wear pajamas, bathrobes, and leggings. According to the Ministry, these clothing items for women were previously introduced in corrective colonies.
