Over 116 tons of humanitarian aid collected by "Moscow Helps" headquarters have been sent from the capital to the Kursk region

More than 116 tons of humanitarian aid collected by volunteers from "Moscow Helps" headquarters have been sent from the capital to the Kursk region. The volunteers accept long-lasting food products such as grains, pasta, canned goods, tea, coffee, sugar, and other items. Special attention is given to children.

Over 5,400 people took part in the collection, with 14 headquarters open throughout Moscow every day. Through the efforts of Moscow residents, city organizations, and volunteers, more than 481,800 essential goods and other items have already been collected. In addition, volunteer rescuers are being sent to the border area to provide assistance on-site.

"The unity of goodness is an example shown by the residents of the capital and volunteers. Muscovites come with the whole family, during lunch breaks at work, after school - they look for opportunities to help the residents of the Kursk region. The citizens are particularly concerned about children. The most items collected were stationery for school, as well as diapers, toys, baby formula, juices, drinking water, purees, cereals, cookies, and other goods," said Alexander Levit, the director of the resource center "Mosvolunteer".

Moscow residents have collected the most items specifically for children. There is also a constant need for long-lasting food products, personal hygiene items, and, as the cold weather approaches, seasonal clothing for adults.

To find out more information about the necessary items and the operation of collection points, you can call the hotline "Time to Help" daily from 10:00 to 19:00 at +7 499 170-02-25. More than 2,700 questions related to the Kursk region have already been answered by the hotline.

How to Become a Helper:

Moscow residents can become volunteers at one of the "Moscow Helps" headquarters. You can join the volunteer corps on the website of the resource center "Mosvolunteer". They accept citizens aged 14 and older. Volunteers help in two shifts: from 10:00 to 14:30 and from 14:30 to 19:00. Their tasks include collecting humanitarian aid, sorting goods by category, entering information into the database, packing and preparing filled boxes for shipment. Volunteers help not only in Moscow but also in the Kursk region. Volunteers from the Moscow city branch of the All-Russian Student Corps of Rescuers shared their stories with mos.ru.

From Bottles to Overalls: Children's Store Chain Helps Border Territories of the Kursk Region

26-year-old Muscovite Yevgenia Liin has been volunteering since 2020. Since March 2022, she has been regularly traveling to Rostov-on-Don, the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics, the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, as well as to Belgorod and Kursk. When help was needed in the Kursk region, Yevgenia responded immediately. She found out about the departure less than a day in advance but managed to gather quickly. Her goal is to support people in difficult situations. She spent two weeks in the border region.

"There was nothing more important than delivering help to those in need as soon as possible. It was especially nice to see pallets with the label "Moscow Helps": the residents of the capital responded and supported us. In such moments, you are especially proud of your fellow countrymen. One of the residents who were evacuated from Sudzha said that I resembled her granddaughter very much and asked the duty officers for my contact information to stay in touch," Yevgenia shared.

19-year-old Moscow volunteer-rescuer Ilya Anikeenko has been working for the benefit of the city and society for 3.5 years. He went to the Kursk region together with Yevgenia Liin. The tasks on-site are determined based on the positions of the volunteers. Throughout the day, they are busy unloading, loading, and delivering humanitarian cargo to temporary accommodation points or recipients. Local residents have a need for standard household items, such as bedding, personal hygiene products, food, cots, and mattresses.

"People need help. When there is another opportunity to go, I will definitely do it without hesitation. The people of Kursk treat volunteers with gratitude and respect for their help. I think not only I but also many other guys find strength in the eyes of those people we have helped. This look of gratitude cannot be described in words, it can only be felt," shared Ilya Anikeenko.
